The Art of Self-Expression is an Erasmus+ project where Asociatia Babilon Travel is acting as partner and sending organization. Its main activity was a youth exchange that took place in Zagreb, Croatia, between October 25 and November 2, 2020.

Erasmus Days: Outcomes

Erasmus+ DaysToday we celebrated the #ErasmusDays, with an on-line event presented in our previous article. The event brought together 9 youngsters, seven visually impaired/blind and two non-visually impaired, together with three project coordinators and a member of staff, from the consortium of partners.

KEEP FIT: Learn, act, inspire!

Keep fitKEEP FIT: Learn, act inspire! is a brand new Erasmus+ project where Asociatia Babilon Travel is acting as partner and sending organization.

The main activity of the project is a study visit, that will take place in Tirana – Albania, between November 2-9, 2020, and will bring together 24 youth workers, age 18+, from Albania, Romania, Belgium, Greece, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Latvia and Italy.

Main aim of the Study Visit

The project “ Keep fit: learn, act, inspire” aims at spreading good practices; share, learn, inspire and develop skills on healthy lifestyle among youth workers as a way to prevent mental, physical, environmental problems by maintaining a healthy diet, regular mental/physical activity and reducing ecological footprint. Erasmus+ programme celebrates each year its aniversary. Asociatia Babilon Travel is supporting this wonderful event by organizing an on-line meeting with potential participants to one of our international projects: Ball for All.

This on-line meeting will take place on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 14:30 Romanian local time and will bring together youngster from three European countries: Republic of North Macedonia, Turkey and Romania. (more…)

INVICTUS: Inclusion via Culture of Sports

INVICTUS is another Erasmus+ project where Asociatia Babilon Travel is acting as partner and sending organization. It could be the first project that will start its main activity, a youth exchange, after the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic.

If everything will run as expected, the youth exchange will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, between August 28 and Septenber 5, 2020.

ATS4VIP: The second intellectual output

The second phase of the ATS VIP Project is underway. This phase is entitled Creation of an OER for accessible, safety and secure travelling of visually impaired persons

It began in April 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2020.

The aim of IO2 is the development of the OER platform that will contain information and innovative content related to accessibility, safety and protection during the trip, especially adapted to people with visual impairment and blindness. All project partners from North Macedonia, Romania and Spain are actively working for the optimal functioning of the OER platform

BALL FOR ALL – A new project is starting

End of May 2020 we received the good news, that our KA-1 project BALL FOR ALL has been approved and its starting date will be the 1st of August 2020. Our international partners in this project are Mreza za Dozivotno Ucenje from North Macedonia and Karabaglar Kaymakamligi from Turkey.

BALL FOR ALL aims to respond to the needs of visually impaired young people to be included in society with their peers, to be equally involved in education, culture, sports, social life, etc. Specifically, during the one week activity of this project that will take place in Cluj-Napoca, we will make the sports game goalball (the most popular ball sport in the world for the visually impaired, which become a Paralympic sport in 1976) to become inclusive, for our mixed international teams of the blind and sighted, girls and boys. The practice of sport will be alternated by debates on topics of interest such as the perception of people with disabilities in society, stereotypes and expectations of / from society, social inclusion. ATS4VIP: The first intelectual output

Accessible Travel Solutions for Visually Impaired Persons (ATSforVIP) is an Erasmus+ project financed by the European Union.

The consortium of partners, Mreza za Dozivotno Ucenje (Lifelong Learning Network) North Macedonia, IT Solutions for All Spain and Asociatia Babilon Travel Romania, were working on the first intellectual output of the project which aims at development of a methodology meant to study and compare accessibility and mobility services present in the European countries, mainly focusing on accessible tourism and confront these findings with the needs of visual impaired persons.

“Together we see 1%”

Two Romanian athletes with visual impairments train for an expedition on Mont Blanc.

After the national premiere registered at the end of last year, when the blind climber Alex Benchea climbed, together with the international guide Cosmin Andron, on Kilimanjaro – 5,895 m, this year we register a new premiere, Răzvan Nedu, category B2 (athletes with a view between 1 and 5 %) and Alex Benchea, category B1 (completely blind athletes) are training to climb to the top of the Alps. On Sunday, June 5, the two athletes, together with a team of professionals, climbed on the roof of Romania, Moldoveanu Peak (2544 m). Alex and Răzvan see 1% together, are part of the National Paraclimbing Team and represent Romania at national and international competitions. (more…)

NVDA: A completely free screen reader

Non-visual Desktop Access (NVDA) is a free and open source screen reader for the Microsoft Windows operating system. Providing feedback via synthetic speech and Braille, it enables blind or vision impaired people to access computers running Windows for no more cost than a sighted person. NVDA is developed by NV Access, with contributions from the community.

NVDA allows blind and vision impaired people to access and interact with the Windows operating system and many third party applications. (more…)

IN TOUCH: Maria’s testimonial

With the support of BabilonTravel NGO, I’ve had the pleasure to travel to Greece and participate at the IN TOUCH project, a project focused on inclusion and entrepreneurship for youth with few life opportunities and diminished capabilities. The seminar was predominantly tackling the concepts equity and equality in the entrepreneurial domain. Within the 5 days, I’ve participated at peer-to-peer support activities through which the above mentioned concepts were implemented. (more…)

The seminar in Larissa was a success. It was dedicated to research and sharing of partners’ best practices.

The goal was to introduce experts and organizations, comparing and sharing partners’ best practices, which where be evaluated by the young people with fewer opportunities.

The secondary goal of the seminar was to empower young people with fewer opportunities by fully including them in all stages of the preparation and production of the In Touch Best Practice Report.

Accessible Travel Solutions for Visual Impaired Persons

The project partners within the project “Accessible Travel Solutions for Visually Impaired Persons” (ATSVIP) held their first kick off meeting on January 13th in Skopje, Macedonia.  The project is co-founded by the Erasmus plus Program of the European Commission, Key Action 2.

Project ATSVIP is implemented by a Consortium of 3 partners from 3 European countries (Romania, Spain and Macedonia).  Within this project, the ATSVIP consortium will develop accessible travel solutions for visually impaired persons.

The first meeting has been held in Skopje on January 13, 2020 and the project partners were welcomed by the host and leading partner Lifelong Learning Network (LLN) Macedonia. At the meeting, the partners reviewed the envisioned project activities, intellectual outcomes and expected results. The partners agreed to focus on travel solutions for visually impaired persons taking into account existing situation for visually impaired in bus transportation, railway and air transportation.

The project partners outlined the activities related to research under Intellectual Output 1, and initial structure and the design of the OER Platform under Intellectual Output 2. The partners also agreed on project logo and the web domain, in order to foster project visibility and to launch dissemination activities.

It was agreed the next meeting to be held in June 2020 in Malaga, Spain.

The Power of YOU(th)

 “The Power of YOU(th)” is an attempt to establish and stimulate a dialogue between European youths on local, national and European level. It will allow youths the opportunity to enter into a conversation and to come to a democratic solution on a European level with peers, teachers and policy makers. Research on local till European level has shown that youths would like to be involved in the process of democratic decision-making. On the other hand there is a huge suspicion towards the government and policy makers and that youths feel that their voice doesn’t matter. (more…)
