Prin proiectul Breaking Barriers, Building Europe, Asociația Babilon Travel organizează o călătorie de 7 zile la inima Uniunii Europene, co-finanțată de UE prin programul DiscoverEU Inclusion Action. Activitatea are loc în perioada 10–16 iulie 2026 la Luxembourg City și este adresată tinerilor cu oportunități reduse din Cluj-Napoca și zonele rurale din jur.
Despre activitate
Luxembourg City nu este doar o capitală europeană — este locul unde funcționează unele dintre cele mai importante instituții ale Uniunii Europene. Participanții vor vizita Secretariatul General al Parlamentului European și Curtea de Justiție a UE, vor călători cu bilet Interrail asigurat de organizație și vor lua parte la sesiuni zilnice de reflecție non-formală. La finalul activității, fiecare participant primește un certificat Youthpass — recunoaștere oficială a competențelor dobândite pe parcursul călătoriei.
Pentru cine este deschis proiectul?
Căutăm 5 tineri cu vârsta între 18 și 21 de ani, rezidenți în Cluj-Napoca sau în zonele rurale învecinate, din care 3 locuri sunt rezervate tinerilor cu deficiențe de auz și 2 locuri tinerilor care se confruntă cu obstacole socio-economice, culturale sau geografice.
Cazarea, transportul și mesele sunt acoperite integral din bugetul proiectului. Participarea este 100% gratuită.
Ce se întâmplă după întoarcere?
Proiectul nu se termină odată cu călătoria. Participanții vor lua parte la sesiuni de mentorat de grup, un atelier de evaluare și activități de diseminare prin care vor împărtăși experiența cu alți tineri din comunitate.

Asociația Babilon Travel officially announces the launch of the project Breaking Barriers, Building Europe (BBBE), approved under the Erasmus+ programme, DiscoverEU Inclusion Action (KA155-YOU). The project started in March 2026 and will run for 15 months, concluding in May 2027.
About the project
Breaking Barriers, Building Europe is built around a straightforward premise: young people with disabilities or socio-economic barriers have the same right to European mobility as anyone else. The project addresses a gap that has been well documented — participation of young people with fewer opportunities in EU mobility programmes remains disproportionately low, shaped by financial constraints, inaccessible information, and a lack of tailored support.
To tackle this, Babilon Travel will organise three DiscoverEU Inclusion journeys for 15 young people aged 18 to 21 from Cluj-Napoca and the surrounding rural areas, each travelling to a different EU institutional capital: Luxembourg, Strasbourg, and Brussels. All participants will be young people with fewer opportunities — including young people with hearing or visual impairments, those from low-income backgrounds, and those facing cultural or geographical barriers.
Three journeys, one goal
The first activity, Breaking Barriers in Luxembourg, will take place in July 2026 and will focus on accessibility in EU institutions and active youth participation. The group will visit the General Secretariat of the European Parliament and the Court of Justice of the EU. The second journey heads to Strasbourg to explore inclusion and accessibility in European democracy through a visit to the European Parliament. The third brings a group to Brussels to engage directly with the European Commission and reflect on how EU policies shape young people’s lives.
Each journey is supported by a dedicated mentor/facilitator and, where needed, certified accompanying persons specialised in working with hearing-impaired or visually impaired youth. Communication tools such as sign language interpretation, Braille materials, easy-to-read formats, and tactile graphics will be used throughout.
Beyond the trip
The project does not end when participants return home. Each group will take part in post-mobility mentoring sessions, an evaluation workshop, and dissemination activities in partner schools and communities. All participants will receive a Youthpass certificate, formally recognising the competences developed during the journey.
Babilon Travel also coordinates the Network for Inclusive Youth Work, an informal network of organisations from 11 European countries, through which the project’s results and practices will be shared at a broader European level.

Founded in 2013 in Cluj-Napoca, Babilon Travel is a non-governmental organisation specialising in inclusive youth mobility and non-formal education. Accredited under Erasmus+ Youth since 2021, the organisation works closely with the Special School for the Visually Impaired, the Association of the Blind, and the Special Technological High School for the Hearing Impaired, among other partners.
